My apartment
I know that a few people have been waiting to see how I live.. So here it is, here is a few pics of my house. There are much more of it, than you see in the pictures. Like one terrace and a few more rooms, but I couldnt take pictures of it all.. And I find it very difficult to take good pictures in apartments..
Sorry for not cleaning my room before, but I dont have time for that.....
My huge livingroom
Kitchen
The best thing in the kitchen. I have never seen it in India before, but aparently it is very common here in South India. Anyone knows what it is?
Someone like you
This song goes on repeat on my computer. And loudly also. I think maybe my roommates will start hating me soon, because I only listen to this song. And the Airtel add of course..
Airtel = Lovely music
I dont have a TV in my house, and I never listen to the radio here in India, so very rarely I get to see or hear the adds or commercials.. But there is a TV in the office, so I usually watch a little while having my lunch. And I heard one song once, and I cant stop loving it! Its the phonecompany Airtel´s song! I previously called them Craptel (because they were really crappy) but they are good in making music. I had no idea what they were singing (Roomie just told me today) but that didnt matter, it is still a lovely song.
So today I am kind of free, its Roomies birthday today, so I think we just might go for dinner or something. Usually I dont have plans on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.. So those days should actually be my gym days, but I am too lazy today. I dont feel like going at all. I think it is mainly because I dont have anyone to go with today.. If you have a buddy, its much easier to be motivated.
I have some lovely collegues, today I went in to the kitchen and asked them to give me some recipes. I got a recipe for one Paneer/Chicken/Veggie dish with a lovely gravy and finally a recipe for Paneer Bhurji, my absolute favourite. They will call me into the kitchen tomorrow when they are making Egg Bhurji (same recipe, just changing the paneer to egg) so I can learn it properly! Hopefully I have the time when they call me..
I am waiting
Finally the day is almost here. The day I have been waiting for for so long now! My new swedish collegue is coming tomorrow, and I am so excited. Finally I will have someone to speak swedish to. My collegues are like talking Hindi all the time, so now it is their turn to feel little left out, hehe.. Payback time =)
No, I am joking of course. Because I know how rude it is to speak in a language that everyone doesnt know, so I am always trying to speak English, even if the other one doesnt speak it to me. This I do when others are around of course, otherwise I love speaking Swedish. Anyways, her name is Juliya and we are very excited to have her here, especially me and my collegue Glenn.. I am teaching him Swedish so he can impress her, hahah! I am organizing a party on Wednesday with many of my friends, and it is for Juliya to feel welcome and have a great time as soon as she comes here.
So Juliya, hurry, come fast, and bring me some swedish candy! =)
Opus
I had a lovely evening last night with Elin and a few more.. We first went to a club to have some drinks and food, after that we went to Opus, where it was karaoke. I swear, if it is karaoke in a place, it will be packed with people. People really like karaoke here in Bangalore!
So, in Opus we were listening to some good music, played by a great DJ, and after some time the Karaoke started. It was some really good singers last night, and they choose really good songs as well so I was just singing along (the music was so loud so no one could here me, Thank God!) and dancing. Their seating was little different in this place, they had some mattresses on the floor, so I actually had to take of my shoes, because it was so difficult to stand properly.. So I was dancing barefoot, walking around and talking to friends whom I met in Opus.
After they closed, me and my friends went outside to try to catch an auto. That is always difficult after closing.. The autoguys charge you so much! Anyways, we got one, and then all the autoguys started to fight, they were hitting each other and screaming very loudly! I dont know for what reason, maybe they all wanted to take me and Elin home? And after that, even our friend started to fight with one autoguy, and he is really big (I mean, he plays cricket, he must be very strong) so it ended very fast! No big deal, it was just a few pushes...
I came home around twelve, and I got a whole 7 hours to sleep, which I havent got in a long time now.
Chandan, Elin and me
Elin, me and a very handsome cricket player =)
It was kind of a wild and crazy night last night, thanks all for making it that much fun, I had a blast! See you all in next wild party - Ladies night in Loveshack ♥
PS. Sorry Elin if I chose any of the bad pics, I tried not to..
New situation
I have never been working in a hotel or bar before, so I am now in a totally new situation when I see my guests getting drunk. It is actually a lot of fun! You yourself is completely sober (since you are working) and you see how your guests get more and more drunk, more and more friendly and more and more talkative. I love it. Right now we are having a group of guys here, they have been drinking a few beers and all the things they are saying is just too much fun.
Well atleast they are enjoying themselves, thats good. I will be leaving for my home soon. I will just change my clothes, wait for Elin, and then we are heading to our crickters =)
I am Cupid
I have a new hobby, or it was actually assigned to me with out me having any choice. I have become Cupid here in India. It is a lot of fun. One of my friends is like really desperate to find a girl (remember Desperate Indian guy in hunt for girl?) Well it is kind of like that. So now I have matched him up with one of my collegues that I am working with. Lets see what happens next.
Today will be a very long day in office, it is not to much to do, and I am just waiting to finish my shift so I can go for this Karaokenight with my new Cricket friends. It is so weird, the people I am hanging out with here is like models, actors, cricket players and other celebs. Not only of course, I do have more "normal" friends then these types, but still, I like it.
Crazy night
I went to Loveshack last night, with roomie + one, Bonny + many, Elin and my collegue. I had so much fun, I was walking around, meeting lots and lots of people I knew. In the end, I was sitting with a bunch of people, and 2 cricket players. So me and Elin got invited for a party with them today, I hope we will go. Elin, we are going right?! I want to go! I wanna sing Karaoke ;) They are cricket players, we should make some cool friends! Well, I dont have any idea about this sport, and I dont care either. I know one name of one cricket player, and he is like the best there is, in India atleast. But that is all I know..
After the party I went home to a friends place, he had the biggest pooltable ever, so a few of us was playing til late night. I didnt win, eventhough I was cheating the most =)
Now I am off to work, I will update you people later...
My sweet puppies
I have just spent some quality time with my puppies. My friend from last night had a kitten in the house, so now the puppies were very interested, I guess I smelled very nicely for them.. One of these puppies, she is sooo tiny, and sooo skinny. I am little scared that she will not make it. Maybe she is sick or something, and she just doesnt grow. She has been here for a week or so, but nothing has happend to her, I mean she hasnt grown anything. The other ones are very healthy, and my favourite one is always happy, playing and eating.
You can see in this picture how tiny the little one is compared to the others...
I just remembered that I havent shown any pictures of my house. I will do that as soon as I get a chance to.. Now, it is again time for work...
Friday night
I had such a nice evening. I went out for dinner with my friend, had some lovely Veg food, Kadai vegetables. And the funny part is, here in India, I almost only eat vegetarian food, but when I am in Sweden, I hardly eat any veggies at all. I mean not even veggies cooked in the meal! I am the biggest meat eater back home, but not at all here.. Anyway, after dinner we went home with some friends and watched a movie, I fell asleep (surprise!) and woke up at 6 am.. We all went out for breakfast together, but then I had to leave because I need to work.. I hate working on the weekends, it sucks when everyone else is off.
Today I was supposed to go for a party with some of my collegues, but I think it is not going to happen. One of them had a visitor so she said she couldnt make it. I guess we will postpone the plans again. So if I dont go for a party with them, I might go for Viren Khannas Ives party. Which is where all the expats go, maybe not all, but atleast many of them. But I might be to tired to go out tonight, I didnt sleep for too many hours this night.. So lets see what I plan for.
Facebook and India
I always, get weird messages on Facebook. I mean, almost daily some weird guy is writing to me, saying things like, "Hello sexy" "Is that a wolf in your picture?" "I love your smile, can we be friends?" "Hey, I sent you a friend request!" Very rarely girls write to me, but today there was actually one girl writing to me. She was not Indian though, she was from Russia, but living in Bangalore trying to be a model. She wrote that she thought we should try to be models together.. I said thanks, but I think I pass!
Me, being a model!? I dont think so.. I will keep my stupid 9-6 job here in India instead of that.
My life is always so stressful these days
I am getting ready for a nice stay at home night at a friends place. It feels like it was so long ago I just did nothing, I think I need that now. He asked me if I wanted to go out, but I am just to tired of that. All I do is stress around.. Like today I woke up at 7.40 and I barely had time to get ready for office. I worked the whole day til little after 6 when my roomie came to pick me up. I was home Little after seven and then went straight to the gym! When I got home, there was no power, so then I could rest a little. When power got back, I jumped in to the shower, and now here I am, sitting in my towel, when I need to leave in 10 minutes. No time for rest, but I guess I will have time for that when I really, really need it!
Gym wasnt very good today, I mean, I wasnt very good in the gym today. I went, ran for ten minutes and then I felt really bad. It could have been because I just 2 minutes before ate a hamburger from McDonalds.. So I actually had to leave after running.
Now, I am off to my friends place. Have a nice Friday night.
The road to Cilantro last night. It was so peaceful and quiet there
Good morning
I knew it. And I told you all last night. I was to lazy to get up at 6 am this morning. I really tried, but I was sooo sleepy. I was even to sleepy to get up for work, but I had to really force myself to get up. No work = no money, so thats why I had to get up. I am lucky, I have one collegue that lives quite close to me, so every morning he comes to pick me up. I dont have to go by bus in the monrnings, which is so nice. Because bus takes around 45-50 minutes and its overcrowded always. On bike it takes around 20 minutes. In the evenings I usually get a ride home as well, but sometimes I do need to take the bus, but from office it is okay, because I always get a seat atleast.
So, I need to get ready and then I am off to work. By the way, I found one picture from Wednesday in F Bar. We had to leave in a hurry from this place. When we stood by the bar and were supposed to pay, some people started to fight with the bartenders. I, who love fights, was very interested (it was more like an argue, not real fight) but all the guys were very overprotective, they escorted us out and set the bill themselves.. So I have no idea how the fight ended...
Cilantro
I went out for hot chocolate with roomie, and I just got home. I was supposed to wake up at 6 am tomorrow morning to go to the gym before office, but its 12.40 now, so I dont think I can do it. I will be way to tired. But lets see, I will try atleast. I dont think I have the time to go to the gym after office. I am supposed to go home to a friends place and watch a movie.. But lets see.. Anyway, the night got a little abrupt ending, roomie got a phone call and she needed to rush home.. So she just dropped me home and then went back to her place.
This place is so amazing, it doesnt feel like India, because it is so quiet and it has lots of trees and stuff. My friend actually lives here, so I have been here before, but not in the restaurant.. It is very nice ambiance. And the hot chocolate was very tasty.
Hell exists in India
There is one place in India, in all the major cities, that is known and famous as HELL for all foreigners. The real name of this place is FRO, or FRRO - Foregin Regional Registration Office. If you are a long-termer in this country you cant escape this place. You need to go there and register. And it might sound like that is an easy thing to do, but that is a huge misunderstanding. There is a reason it is called HELL. The last three weeks I have been in this place around ten times. And it takes the whole day. Always. No exceptions. What these people tell you one day, is not valid the next day. And if they tell you one document is missing, come back tomorrow - there is one more doucument missing when you come back the next day. But they couldnt say that the previous day, because why would they check ALL the documents when they saw one was missing? So for those people that come from a country where everything is very structured, you can understand that they get very frustrated at the staff, and its very, very easy to get angry. I, among others, have yelled at the staff in frustration! And I am very sure that the staff hates all foreigners.
For all of you living in Bangalore, I am sure you are familiar with this building
And this is the inside, on the ground floor where everyone is welcome. Only the foreigners that needs to be registered are allowed on first floor. No one can come with you, even if you dont know English, you have to go alone. And can you see the thing on the wall with the numbers? I thought it was just to push a button and then the next number would appear. No, in this place they have the old fashion model. The one where you have to press the number yourself. No wonder the same number can appear several times, or that they skip a few numbers sometimes..
The only good thing about going to this particular FRRO in Bangalore is that I have found a sweetshop very close by, and they sell the best Jalebi (or is it Jilebi?) I have ever eaten. Whenever I go there, I buy lots of these sweets.
My first post in English
I have now got a bunch of international readers, mostly Indians I believe, so I was thinking of writing in English sometimes, just for those people. So here it goes, and please forgive my English, I know it is not perfect.
Welcome to my blog, my name is Sara and I have just turned 26. I live my life in Bangalore, India and I have lived here since October 2010. I just love my life here. Of course I dont love everything, I mean, who loves to work!? There are so many other things you want to do here in life, but I have no choice. I have to work, end of story. But apart from that, my life is great. I am very priviliged and blessed to have got this opportunity to live in a country that I really like. Every day here is an adventure, I never know what will happen and my days are never the same. Even though my life is pretty routine right now, with work, gym, friends and clubs, fun and weird things happen all the time. The other night for example, I went to Loveshack (my favourite place in Bangalore, remember this name because I will mention it a lot) to meet some friends. I ended up talking to some guy that I met once in an afterparty, and in the end of the night he did not stop telling me and everyone else how beautiful I was, and that he couldnt stop loving me. And this guy was married! I come a cross lots of weird people, but also many people that I now care deeply for. I just wanted to give a small introduction before I now start..
So, I live in a big house in Koramangala, the best area (according to me) in Bangalore. I have 4 roommates, and one of these roommates is a volounteer dog rescuer or something. She takes care of streetpuppies before they are put up for adoption. Which is just lovely. I love dogs, and especially puppies. Right now we have 5 adorable puppies in the house. Every morning when I wake up I go and play with them for a little while. I hate that I always have to leave for work. I would have loved my job if I was working with taking care of dogs.. I mean, just look at these puppies
The big brown one is my favourite. And I think I am his favourite also ♥
I got a new haircut
My puppies
Internet is working again
