Indian trees

Or as I call them; The Garbage trees. Aaah, what a lovely sight!

You have got to love Indian security

The other day I was in MG road for some shopping. It started to rain, and since I hate the rain I decided to go back home. I went to the metro, went through the security, and they scanned my bag. When I was walking towards the gates I hear someone calling "M´am", I stop and turn around and a security lady is running after me.

Security lady: M´am, do you have a scissor in your bag?
Me: Ummm, no.
Security lady: Okay. Then you can go.

The questions is, why didn´t she just check my bag?

The getting ready

The bride is all nerves, and I do understand her. Standing infront of 800 people is nothing we do everyday. Sarees are being draped, make up is being put on, hair is getting done, nails painted. All the boys left for the grooms house and as soon as the girls are done, we are leaving for the wedding ♥

Lovely, lazy Monday

After a long and hectic weekend, I am going to have a lazy Monday! Im staying home all day, reading, writing, watching movies and eating swedish candy! Im not going to move from bed until evening when I have some work to be done.

The birthdayweekend

My birthday weekend has come to an end. It started on Friday, I forced my friends to come to Ice with me, since I havent been there in ages and I really liked that place! The music was great but the crowd was not as good as I remember it. After clubbing we went home to an all american house and celebrated 4th of July. We stayed up chatting till around 3.

On Saturday I went out shopping a gift for my birthday that my friends mom wanted to buy me. I found a lovely Salwar Kameez that I wore for my actual birthday. In the night me and some new and old friends went to Arbor Brewery Company! It was packed, but it was so much fun! I had the best time with my friends, and I also met some people whom I have known from before. Arbor is definately my new favourite hangout place! Food is good, ambiance is good, crowd is good, music is good! After being kicked out at 11.30, we went to Ulsoor lake where my sweet Nitin surprised me with a lovely chocolate cake.

After the mandatory "putting cake on the birthdaygirls face" cops came and asked us to leave! I gave them some cake and they let us stay for another 15 mnts.

Sunday I had decided that I wanted to go for gocart! It looks like a lot of fun, but I was very disappointed! I didnt like it at all and I wont do it again. I went for lunch with friends at The only place and we had dinner at Monkeybar  and ended the night with a bananasplit at Lakeview! My friend Xavier bought me a lovely flowerbouque, and my sweet Nitin bought me a bunch of roses! A perfect ending to my lovely birthdayweekend!

Payback time!

Happy birthday me!

When I blew the candles on my wonderful cake I only had one wish, okay two. No cake on my face! For some reason my wishes never seems to come true.
My hands, my face, my (newlywashed) hair, my neck and my dress was covered in chocolat.
This is one tradition in India that I really dont like! And I told my friends that if I ever
celebrate another birthday here, I want white chocolate on the cake!

Ps. My second wish was as always a horse!

The weekend

Friday I spent the day at a big lake little outside Bangalore, called Manchanabele. It was hot and I badly wanted to swim, but apparently the water wasnt very clean (surprise, surprise!) so I just ended up tanning a bit instead. When I reached Bangalore I had italian dinner with some new friends of mine.

Saturday I wasnt doing much. I was home most of the day, besides some time I spent outside to look for a gym, and having lunch. The evening I spent at another brewery called Biere club. I met some nice people and I ate som nice food. Again I came home early. Staying out late in Bangalore is not an alternative, since everything closes by 11.30pm.

Today I went saree shopping, I bought a beautiful saree that I will wear for my friends wedding. But I cant show you yet, you will have to wait until after the wedding (which is on July 14th).

After the shopping I went to a place called Nandi hills, which is obviously a hill. I reached by 6pm, and by then it was closed. So I spent an hour or so taking pictures. It was equally fun. I have already seen Nandi hills, so I wasnt too sad about it.

The going back home, part 2

The second day in Bangalore I had the best lunch! I was taken to a Punjabi restaurant ( I loooooove punjabifood) and I had butter-garlic naan (I looooooove butter-garlic naan) and some chicken-gravy dish. After lunch I went to see my lovely Koramangala, the area where I used to live. It looked the same, apart from a few new shops. So I was walking around, enjoying the hoods and after a while I sat down at CCD, which is a coffeeplace. I ordered my favourite; cold chocolatte, and was sipping it while reading a book. It didnt take long before I heard an "excuse me, can I talk to you?" Since I have been away from India a long time, my rudeness is totally gone. I couldnt say no!

Before I knew it, I was having the longest chat with an african man from God knows where! In pure desperation I was texting my Indian/African friend that she should have taught me african-english instead of indian-english! I didnt understand a word this man said. So I was nodding, smiling and repeated "what" and "sorry" countless of times. After an hour or so I was rescued by a friend of mine who came to pick me up. We went for dinner and drinks in a place called Arbor Brewery Company, ABC. Every place in Bangalore still closes by 11.30pm, so it was an early night. Which was perfect for me, because I was still very tired from my trip.

The going back home, part 1

So it is high time I start writing again. I have now been back in Bangalore for a few days and I couldnt be happier. It feels like I am back home again. The past few days has been quite busy, with meeting friends, walking around in my old hoods, househunting (nothing good so far), eating, shopping and enjoying life!

My flight was a little late the day I arrived, and I was in the house around 7am or so. I was dead-tired, but was not allowed to go to sleep before teatime! After the sugarrush had left my body I fell asleep, and woke up around lunch time. Which was the first lunch I had, you ask? -Homemade Dosa, biryani, and some fried babycorn. I really missed indianfood, it is so lovely! The first day was all about eating all the food and sweets that I missed!

The best thing I had was of course the ice cream. I am some of a ice-creamaholic.

In the evening I went with a friend of mine to a place called Toit, which is very popular and always supercrowded. It is a brewery, but like I said, my first day was all about eating. To my surprise, they served;

I wont be missing any swedish food now.

One year without you

These songs are ours. And I listen to them for you. ♥

Nothing can keep me away from you

I am a person who loves my plans. And when my plans dont work out, for any reason, it makes me quite upset. So I would like to delete whatever I wrote in the last post. There will be the return of the Princess of Koramangala. Although, the Mickey Mouse house era is over.

It feels like I am already on my way to Bangalore, I guess it is because of all the plans I am making already, but it will take me some time before I am there.. So bare with me, the return of the blog will come before you know it. And I must say that I miss writing here very much!

An update

It is the end of an era.

No more Princess of Koramangala, No more Mickey mouse house, No more Loveshack, No more Barbiedoll, No more Sara-akka, No more BANGALORE.

I have left Bangalore, most probably for good. My time in Bangalore has been one of the best times in my life! I am so happy for (almost) everything I have been through there. Bangalore will always have a very, very special place in my heart. Anyone moving to India, I will always suggest you to move to Bangalore. It is my absolute favourite place to live. The people, the clubs, the climate, the food, the areas, the cars (beside all the jaguars, bmws and mercedes, there were two volvojeeps on my street), the houses, I just love it all!

When you change your mind

First time in Bangalore, August 2010. First impression - I did not like it at all!

Bangalore, January 2012 - I love this city!

Weekend is over

I was having the best day yesterday. Me and my friend had the most awesome dinner, I just love Indian food! We shared a bottle of wine, drank homemade watermelon juice, ate mango and talked for hours and hours. We ended the night with a small fire - burning old bankpapers I dont need anymore. We also decided that we will go out one last time before I go home, next weekend is my last weekend, so we will go to either Ice bar in Taj Vivanta or Skye bar in UB City, I love them both so I cant decide.
Today we were hanging again. She called me and asked if she could use our washing machine, hers want working today. After that we went out and had food and she had the longest TO DO list that we needed to finish. We had plans of eating mango with ice cream, but someone in my house had already taken my mango =(

Late night

Yesterday I stayed up till 3 am just to watch Sweden loose against England in the Euro cup. Now they are no more, and if Portugal still has a chance, I hope they will win, or at least go far, so there is some point of watching the cup..
So I slept till pretty late this morning, my friend woke me up to tell me we had lunch plans. I got ready and left for her house to have food. It became brunch since I didn't have time to eat breakfast. Later today we need to go to some stores and later in the night we have to finish a bottle of wine that has been in my house for quite some time now. Other than this, there is no plans for the day, just relaxing

Time to give

Since I havent had a laptop or proper access to Internet for the past one and a half month, most of you dont know that I am going to Sweden end of June. One month vaccation with lots of Grillchips, milk and play with my sisters lovely kids. And since I hate packing, I have already started. I usually put one thing per day in the suitcase, after that I am so bored, done for the day and have to do something else.
I realized that there are so many things in my wardrobe that I never use, so I decided to get rid of it. Toss it? No way, not in this country! I feel guilty if I throw away a tiny piece of grape. So I had a free-sale in my room. I told my roommates and I told my maids daughter to come an collect whatever they wanted from the things I had put in a big pile. Only the hand disinfection was left.
Everyday since that day, I see my maids daughter in a new outfit that I gave her. She loves all the leggings I gave her; black, grey, brown and white. And just to clarify, the daughter I am talking about is the 20 year old, not the 6 year old!

Ah, finally

After one and a half month, my lappy is back. My life is back to its normal routine, Facebook, listening to music, reading Aftonbladet, reading relationship problems (It is my weirdest hobby, but no breakfast before I do this), and watching movies. I will never ever again give my laptop away to someone I know. I had to learn the hard way.
  1. It took more than one month to get my laptop back, after chasing it almost daily over the phone.
  2. The person who opened up my laptop ruined it. The repairguy I like told me the last person who opened it had no idea what he did. Something was missing and something was broken.
  3. It was completely dirty! (My keyboard is white, very easy for me to see the dirt). Just because it is not yours doesnt mean you can treat it anyway you want! There is even glue on it, that I cant get rid of.
When I gave my laptop to the very nice and qualified computerguy I told him "this is my baby, please be careful with it. And try to close it properly" (which the other, first person had not done). He said he would take very good care of it, and that he did. That is why I like him. Although, he said my laptop is beyond full repair. I guess it is time to replace my baby, eventhough I dont want to..
And one more thing. When I got the laptop back from number one, he forgot the cable to my charger! So once again, I have to chase something. And dont think this is an easy task. Oh no, this is India people! Dont you ever forget that. If I multiply the time it takes in Sweden, with lets say, 10 or maybe 15, I get the time it takes in India! So, getting a cable back in Sweden = 1 phonecall, 1 day. India = 10-15 phonecalls, 10-15 days.

Back in the virtual world

I am back in action! From now on I will never ask someone else to do my work. I was told that tomorrow I will get my laptop back, but I can say that I have heard that many, many times during these 3 weeks! Anyway, even if I get my laptop back tomorrow, it still needs to be fixed, since it would be too costly to give it to whatever serviceplace my friend took it to.
In the mean time, I was lucky enough to borrow a laptop from a friend of mine. It is nothing like my small, cute, pink laptop. But I can assure you, it is a hell lot better than no laptop at all.
So for now I say goodnight, I will update more tomorrow.

My laptop is not working..

I need to give it for repair, so please allow a few days of me not writing..

Another day in Sweden
